Anxiety Therapy for Ambitious Adults: CA & VA

Helping you navigate those pesky ruminations and emotional hangovers so that you can feel confident and put your mind at ease.

You’ve hit all the markers that everyone said you should; you went to school, got the job, you travel and make time for hobbies and friends, and yet every night you're still burdened with thoughts of not belonging, being good enough, or being overwhelmed.

  • You know how to play the part, put on the face, and show up for family and friends when needed.

  • When a relationship ruptures, you get that new job, or finally get into your dream school, all of a sudden, you feel small, lonely, and unsure of yourself.

  • You constantly wonder, “What am I doing wrong?” and “Is there something more I should be doing?”

With anxiety therapy you can:

Start to quiet those pesky thoughts

Unearth the root of those beliefs

Connect with what you want to be in the present

I get it, you don’t need any more unsolicited advice to “just breathe” or “work out”. Anxiety and emotional overwhelm can feel all-consuming, and breathing might make those “am I doing it right” thoughts even louder.

If I’m being honest with you, slowing down is going to be part of it. Anxiety hates that; it often wants things to happen immediately and hates the unknown.

It often doesn’t feel like it, but you can loosen the grip of the past and put a halt to trying to control the future.

Anxiety therapy gives both practical tools and insight into why you are responding the way you are and makes shifts to be who you want to be, even when the expectations of others feel impossible.

My Approach

As a therapist, I believe that the best results come from starting with a trusting relationship. I use a combination of evidence - based talk therapy strategies, mindfulness-based techniques, and creativity to support clients with easing emotional overwhelm, stress and anxiety.

About Me

Step One: Building a Trusting Relationship

Start with booking an intial consulation call to see how we might work together. From there we will book your first full 50 minute session where I’m able to gather more background infromation about your unique needs.

Step Two: Doing the work

Therapy has been proven to be most effective with consistency. In my practice, we will meet on a weekly or biweekly cadence to strategize and implement ways to support your needs.

Step Three: Prep and Practice

In my work, we will continusoly check your intial goals and see if you are ready to take what you’ve learned and start living your new life. My job is to hlep build your confidence tackle anxiety outside of session.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • I'm happy to walk you through the process. Check out my blog on how to make use of out-of-network benefits.

  • I do not offer a sliding scale, but here are some options I do have available:

    • I do accept Loveland Foundation vouchers which provide Black women and girls with vouchers to help cover the cost of therapy. Visit their website here.

    • I keep 20% of my caseload for Black women who are students, parents, unemployed, or work in social service fields (non-profits, education, etc.) to receive therapy at half the cost.

    • If you have a PPO insurance plan, you may be able to get partial reimbursement for the out-of-pocket costs of therapy. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to them for reimbursement.

  • I use a HIPAA-compliant platform called Simple Practice to do all sessions. Before your appointment, a video link will be sent to your email to give you access to the video session. It's like Zoom for therapists. You can use the Simple Practice client portal to request or cancel appointments and access superbills and other documents.

  • No. I, like many other private practice owners, do not take insurance. However, I can provide a superbill that clients can submit to their insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. I can also provide a guide that helps you inquire about your potential out-of-network benefits.

  • The short answer is that our healthcare system significantly undervalues our work by limiting the number of sessions, requiring extensive paperwork, very little pay, and limited confidentiality for the client. Therefore, until the kinks in this system are worked out, I will not be taking insurance.

  • I prefer to start with weekly sessions until we have reached the maintenance phase of therapy. Then, when clients feel ready, we discuss the option of biweekly sessions.
